Doing FOW over the weekend using my monk. We had 3 healer monks which I thought was a lot but didn't complain. Everyone was kept alive the whole time except for one death in the forest part. The griffons appear and all 3 monks are asking what do we have to do about the griffons because they are colored as allies and we hadn't done this mission before. Sure enough one of the W says (they're stupid don't worry about them) and no one else says anything. Go to fight the skeletons and 1 griffon dies which kicks you back to TOA. Same warrior says the usual profanities about monks don't know how to heal. He never seemed to notice who kept him alive the whole time or bother to mention that you had to keep them alive. Must of been his uber strength armor that did all the work.

So I'm trying to sell a sword, stating all the specs and the price, and eventually I get this PM. He tells me he wants to buy, but I ask him if he has enough, and he freaks out asking where I am or something. I tell him my location and to chill out. He asks how much <-----(ARGH!), so I paste the ad and this ensues...

Yes..., skew me

BTW, he never paid up

Well, we've all got stories about other people's lack of knowledge, or silly errors. I think the OP though was looking more for personal stories of your OWN errors. Heres an example. I had been going to UW for smite runs with my prot monk in a small group for quite some time. We were on our umpteenth run for the night and I buffed up the tank I went with for the cows, or so I thought, Imagine my suprise when he comes down like a house of cards after aggro. Turns out I had not being paying attention and buffed the other party member instead. Not exactly a noob mistake, but Certainly an "oops".

2 Experiences to share, one by me, one by a monk, of all people.

Mine first, Ok so, I was doing Ring of Fire with Henchies (Why? Why? Why), and a Jade drops a Mursaat Hammer. I look at the specs and think 'Oh, it's quite good, I may be able to sell it for a few K (Please note: I have 0 money in the vault at this point). Anyway, I fail the mission, and go to Lion's Arch and begin advertising. I was looking to sell it for around 12-20k. I eventually sell it; out of curiosity I ask for a PC on it here (search for it if you like), and this guy tells me I could have got 200k for it. Lol(!)

The n00bish experience I have had with the monk was when I was LFG in Abaddon's Mouth. We have a group of 3, when a monk asks to join, so I say 'Sure, the more the merrier'. No-one else seems to want to join the group so I get Henchies, suddenly the monk goes into fits of 'No, not Henchies they're sooooooooooooo stupid', and 'You n00b, don't get Henchies' etc. eventually he leaves.

Discuss.

lemme think of a story for the hell of it...

oh yeah

some newb was spamming WTB MAX STORMBOW in yak's bend.
me: you have a lot of gold?
him: enough

I go over and hit trade, with my max req 8 Zealous Storm Bow of Fortitude +25.
He's like wow. he throws in 340g into trade along with a crap shield, some crap sword and some random crafting items, and a half eaten mass. i immediately close trade. He follows me and opens trade, saying what's wrong? Then he demands me to put the bow in. I laugh and close trade again, switch districts, and ignore him due to persistant whispers.

Yesterday evening I was playing with someone who was new to the game. I had 2 henchmen with me, 1 healer, 1 warior and he was like: cool, good team. After that we've beaten a couple of enemies he decides to take upon 5 enemies and keeps saying: we can easily take them. I'm like, don't do that, pick of one of the time. We survive due to the Monk henchmen and he's like: good healing monk...I'm saying, dude it's a henchmen...We move further and he decides: We've beaten 5 of these guys, lets take out more...I'm again, like please don't, remember we are playing with henchmen, just try and take on one or 2 at a time. Due to his low level he got killed first and me and the henchmen survive and he kept typing: Monk, why didn't you heal me??? You n00b, you should have healed me!!! Now rez me!!!
I'm again like, dude, your typing against henchmen, do you have any idea what henchmen are? Him: Henchmen, stop talking about that, I didn't even saw 1 (he was thinking the enemies were henchmen). I'm like: those 2 other players are "henchmen". They arn't human, they are here to help people questing and so...3 seconds later the fella disconnected...

Others will sell if I don't.
Its bad etiquette to show players names.

My story isn't exactly a "n00b" story, but it was rather embarrassing and I felt very stupid afterwards. So here goes:

I've done my fair share of farming with my 55 monk and finally got all the Ecto, Shards, Vellum and more than enough money (planning to buy Wanderers Vestment because of the +5 vs. Elemental Dmg. and Ascetic's Designs for the rest). I make sure I have all the stuff in my inventory and look for a group that will take me to the Forgemaster in the Fissure. Now playing on the European territory doesn't help here, on top of that my guildies weren't up for FoW lately, so I had to go with PUGs. Needless to say it took me a few tries till I found a decent group. I landed up in a guild group with 5 ppl from the same guild - of which quite a few are on my friends list now. It was really smooth playing, except for that one warrior who wouldn't follow calls and had the tendency to rush. Well, it all went fine, we took our time and did the Army of Darkness quest and cleared the whole battlefield before taking on the Forge. At that time some ppl wanted to leave because it was rather late (going towards 1am I think), but I convinced them to stay by offering a bounty of one shard for everyone if they got me to the crafter (had 7 spare shards at that point from all the failed attempts).
So we fought our way through the forge, did the three quests (during which at some point close to the end the rusher left, not a loss I noticed much as we went on). Finally after we killed the last Seed of Corruption I was all like seeing stars and "Yay! I'll get my Fissure Armor!". I run back to the crafter at top speed, click on the items I want to purchase - and nothing happens. Then I realize I forgot to bring feathers and tanned hides. Boy did I feel stupid. Well, fortunately one of the other guys had 5 feathers and another one hat 15 tanned hides, which was enough for me to at least get the vestment and the arm tattoos, so it wasn't a complete failure. But still very frustrating. Here I am working towards and looking forward to buy that armor for weeks and then forgetting something as trivial as a hand full of common crafting materials...

My biggest noob moment happened the other day. instead of using the id kit for a max gold ivory bow i found, i hit the salvage kit instead

The biggest one i was apart of was doing the Uw with a guildmate of mine. shes a smite monk and makes it very clear not to talk to the ghost and for us to not aggro everything. everyone agrees and the other warrior follows her up to fight the group and procedes to bring them back to us. we all die and go back. he forgot that he selected her (trying to put mending on himself) and went to go cast it on her. doh. ok 2nd attempt. same warrior says hey theres a quest here..............

I can think of 2 good moments when I first starting playing GW. The first was in Pre-Searing. I found a black dye(the only one I've ever found also), but of course at the time I had no idea how rare they were and how much they sold for.(which was around 1k at that time) So I come into the abbey and see people wanting to buy dyes, so I whisper to one saying I've got a black, and I'll sell it for a whopping 200g. /doh!!!!!!!!

The 2nd one would be on one of the early missions, (I can't think of which one right now) where you fire the catapults at the Charr. After we got the parts to fix it, we fired at the first group and BAM they went down. Well my friend goes running down there, and I didn't realize. So I was standing there marveling at the glorious catapult, and decide to fire it again. BAM!!! My buddy goes down. That was a great one.
